Next Season Suggestion

I think Jimmy and the other guy did a great job this year! Congratulations, despite the bad pants!

Anyway, a couple of suggestions for next year...
Maybe you guys could expand the region in 2010 and feature a wider geographic area.

Here are a few really good courses I can think of...

Good Park in Akron, longtime home of the Summit County Amateur and widely regarded as one of the best municipal courses in Ohio. I grew up playing Good Park.

Chippewa in Doylestown features some of the best greens of any course, bar none, in NE Ohio. Also, it would be a lot of fun to see the guys tackle the three-hole stretch known as "The Devil's Triangle". The owner and pro (Dan Dauk) are a couple of the nicest guys in Ohio golf, too.

You might have already covered my two new favorite courses - The Quarry and Shale Creek. They represent everything that is RIGHT with public golf. Everything!

Just my ideas. I hope you guys have a great off-season.

-Brent Fulberry

I hate it when that happens

So here is the scenario; I had just completed a couple of long weeks at work finishing up a project for a client, and had actually finished early on Wednesday, Thursday sorted out things in the shop and got materials for the next job starting on Monday. Friday was mine a rare day to maybe sneek out and play some Golf, but at 7:30 in the morning it was raining hard and did not look promising, by 11:30 it was blue sky's.

My son ,19,swore off golf two years ago, but recently had been asking me to go play again, I thought it would be the perfect time to do a little father/son bonding, now if I can just get the two brother's - laws to go play we could have a foursome. They were Game so we agreed to me at the local course http://www.auburnspringsgolf.com/ a bit of a cow pasture, but the price is right and all of us learned to play golf there as kids, so there are lots of memories of great and not so great shots to remember. Anyways we meet out there only to find out they are having a golf outing and the course is closed. Well, now what, my BIL says let's go to the course at Punderson state park . Punderson is a challenging course and much more expensive than Auburn springs, but what the Hey, so we go.
Crowed, but we got off , expensive......2-9's with elec. cart about $40.00. Had to wait about an hour to get off and had to wait to make each shot. You know how it is , just slow play. So a twosome tees off behind us and they are hitting into to us right from the get- go. Now mind you I admit I am a hack golfer but we were not holding up play. so by the third hole I am getting just a little perturbed that these guys are hitting into us and on the third hole a par five sitting out in the fairway waiting for the green to clear a ball comes sailing in about 15 feet away from the cart, no fore or anything. My BIL gets out of the cart (he is about the best golfer I know, low 80's) and hits it back to them on the tee box the guy actually had to duct. I played much better after that and did not see them for the rest of the Game.

But I wonder did I send the right message to my son by thanking my BIL?

Favorite Course

Hey everybody,

Well I am not sure what I expected when I signed up on this message board and all I can say is that there seems to be a definite lack of response from the moderators. And that is ok,because we are golfers and we don't need no stinking moderators. If you are coming here hoping to get help with your game, well maybe, but it won't be from the moderators or the shows hosts. I would help anyone I could but I am a hack, there I said it , I admit it. I will shoot anywhere from 99 to 121 given all the variables of the game so handicap that. Like last Sunday best game I ever had Five Pars and I still shot a 103 I will cherish that game for a long time, probably more than you scratch golfers out there. I just love the game of golf and have come to realize I have no exceptional talent and I get out of it what I put into it (one day a week usually Sunday Morning) and that the real game is me against me. And I enjoy the camaraderie of my friends and the couple of good shots I get each game. I am not sure I would call it relaxation but it is fun.

But I realize I am a hack and I don't really want to spoil others play so I try to play courses that are out of the way and maybe not the country club course. My favorite course that I have been playing this year is http://www.rollinggreengchuntsburg.com/ it is by no means a cow pasture, very well maintained, challenging, friendly staff and about $40.00 on a Sunday morning. And best of all not many people on the course, last week we teed off at about 9:30 and there was nobody ahead or behind us. We had the whole course to ourselves, talk about Country Club. How much better could it get!

So as much as I hate to say it give this course a try.
Enjoy.

Dave

Visiting Northeast Ohio

Hey everyone I am new to the board and currently reside in Houston, Tx. I will be making a trip up to Ohio in August to visit family and was wondering outside of the wonderful courses that have been reviewed on the show, if there were any courses that you would recommend as a must play. I am not really worried about difficulty as my game is more geared for relaxation then improvement. Any advice or tips is much appreciated.
New member , just saying Hi!

Just checking in to say hello to every one(all eight of us). Caught the broadcast on TV and liked the easy-going nature of the hosts and I thought this would be a good place also.

I am 55 and have been playing for about 25 yrs, shoot about 103/18. So you can tell I'm not real serious, but that doesn't mean I don't love the game or the competition. Scoring 50+ for a round of nine can be frustrating, but I can find(usually) one or two shots that keep me coming back. Most of my time is taken-up running a small wood working business(carpentry/cabinet making) so anytime spent out on a course is a grateful diversion from that hectic mess of deadlines and customers.

I am playing with a set of custom made Ben Hogan radial perimeter weighted Knock-offs that I had made about twenty five years ago. My BIL kids me that I should try a set of clubs made this millennium. He may be right......... .. . .

Anyways,
Dave

Just trying out the message editor functions

CLICK HERE ---This is a link(hyperlink) to my website it's safe, just a wood working site
